The Abbey National Estate is a 60-acre estate and former manor house in St Albans, Hertfordshire. The ruins date from the 15th century.

History
The estate was a monastic estate in the Middle Ages, the last of the Abbeys in the county.
In the 14th century, Sir Thomas Verney bought the estate. Sir Thomas built a fine new manor house and named it, St Albans Abbey.
From 1545-1643, Sir Thomas Verney served as High Sheriff of Hertfordshire. His son, also called Sir Thomas Verney, was High Sheriff of Hertfordshire from 1641-1644.
From 1714-1733, the manor house was lived in by the Earl of Mulgrave.
